Thanksgiving is just a few weeks away and with that comes the unofficial start of the holiday season. Black Friday vs.Cyber Monday, is there a difference anyways? Do teens like one over the other? Do women and men vary in their shopping behavior on Black Friday or Cyber Monday?

What are consumers still spending on?

With a down economy many people have been cutting back the past few months. Others are refusing to cut costs on the things they really enjoy. We surveyed men and women of all ages, and found out, despite the economy, what things they aren’t cutting out of their daily lives.

Here they are in order of the top voted item or activity people aren’t giving up to the least voted on:

Who are the big spenders this Mothers day?

This week, eBillme and Shop.org released similar data regarding expected spending for Mothers day. As pointed out by Internet Retailer, both studies projected that approximately 20% of customers will shop online for a Mothers day gift this year. The eBillme study also shows that approximately 9% of consumers will spend more this year on Mom than they did in the previous year.

eBillme Online Spending Index Data - Q1 2009

The following is the primary data for the eBillme Online spending Index. The study was fielded in January 2009 and represents Data from the Jan 1, 2009 - April 1, 2009. The study was fielded by Javelin Research on behalf of eBillme and surveyed 1600 Internet respondents.

The index data shows a decrease in spending intent online from Q4 2008, with the average spend dropping from $175.00 to $75.00

Getting Back in Shape: Spending-wise

Macro conditions are beginning to affect day-to-day consumer spending. For years, American consumers took on growing debt loads disproportionate to their incomes and savings. Innovest’s October 2008 report, Credit Cards at a Tipping Point, describes the mortgage market collapse as only one symptom of a larger problem and that credit cards will be next.
